CAST (Carolina Against Slavery and Trafficking)
CAST is a small, impassioned group within the Campus Y dedicated to a grassroots approach of education and advocacy to eradicate this global epidemic. Through the implementation of speaker panels, documentary screenings, advocacy and awareness trainings, fundraising, and numerous other local and state initiatives, CAST is able to connect with countless individuals, rendering a stronger, more educated society to combat this social injustice.
UNC-CH International Justice Mission
UNC-CH IJM is UNC’s chapter of the International Justice Mission (http://www.ijm.org/). IJM is a human rights agency with field offices in over 15 countries in the developing world, where they advocate of behalf of victims of violent oppression and rescue people out of trafficking situations. The chapter has two primary goals: to educate our campus and community of the issues with which IJM engages, and to financially support the life-saving work of IJM through fund-raising events. Local Volunteer and Internship Opportunities
NCCASA (North Carolina Coalition Against Sexual Assault) – NCCASA is an inclusive, statewide alliance working to end sexual violence through education, advocacy, and legislation. The Salvation Army – The Salvation Army of Wake County provides case management services for survivors of human trafficking, as well as educational seminars and training sessions on human trafficking.
